About Dr Paget

As a career horse woman, Dr. Paget combines a lifetime of passion for horses with over 20 years of experience as a large animal veterinarian.  Dr. Paget is a 1998 Magna Cum Laude graduate of Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine.  Following veterinary school, Dr. Paget completed a specialty internship in equine neonatal and perinatal medicine under the mentorship of Dr. Wendy Vaala at The Mid Atlantic Equine Medical Center in Ringoes, New Jersey.  Nearly a year as a resident in Large Animal Internal Medicine at the University of California at Davis reinforced her love for private practice, and she left the university to practice as an associate veterinarian with a busy large animal practice in east San Diego County.  In 2006, Dr. Paget established Giddy Up Large Animal Veterinary Practice in the small cowboy town of Ramona, California--a community she adores dearly.  In 2019,  Dr. Paget and her husband, Keith, relocated their ranch of 11 horses, a pet pig, a pet goat, a rescued alpaca, 5 dogs and a barn cat to beautiful Williamson Valley, and Dr Paget is excited to offer large animal veterinary expertise to the Prescott region!   Dr. Paget deeply enjoys all facets of veterinary medicine.   Though she admits that neonatal care is still one of her favorite endeavors, the further she has grown in her career and as a horse woman, the more passionate she has become about lameness and the equine athlete.  Undoubtedly, however, she emphasizes that the most important job she has as a vet is ensuring that all creatures in her practice, from the smallest baby goat kid to the largest camel, all have access to routine, thoughtful healthcare.    In her free time, you will most certainly find Dr. Paget riding, either on the trail with her husband, Keith or at a local horse show or rodeo!

Emergency Care

We're Available When You Need Us

As livestock owners, we get it.  Nothing is worse than a 10 PM colic or a laceration at noon on a Sunday.  We have been there with our own, and we are prepared to help you with yours.

Routine Preventative Care

The Best Defense Against Emergencies Is Providing Routine Healthcare!

Williamson Valley Large Animal Veterinary Practice recognizes that the most important service we provide is individualized, routine preventative care.  Dr Paget provides personalized attention, with annual wellness exams, laboratory work if indicated by age or health concerns, annual vaccination programs tailored to each animal's individual preventative care needs, and dentistry.  Equine dental floats are provided gently with motorized dental equipment to provide your horse with a balanced comfortable mouth.  While small ruminants and camelids do not typically require routine dentistry, checking those pearly whites occasionally can identify issues such as malocclusion while it is minor so things can be easily corrected.  We offer health care packages, too, which add up to quite a value!  Call us for details!

Diagnostic Services

A True Hospital On Wheels

Dr. Paget's ambulatory vehicle is well equipped to tend to practically any diagnostic venture a field veterinarian could face.  We are equipped with digital ultrasound to aid in everything from reproductive medicine to soft tissue lameness diagnostics.  Additionally, we can bring computerized x ray imaging right to your farm or ranch and provide you with answers "real-time" regarding your horse's lameness or your goat's tooth root abscess!

Reproductive Medicine

From Conception to Foaling

One of her greatest passions, throughout her career, has been in the field of theriogenology, perinatology and neonatology...in a nut shell, Dr Paget loves baby foals!  From mares who are difficult to settle in foal, through high risk pregnancies, to providing a soft landing for those colts and fillies, Dr. Paget has the interest and expertise to help make your breeding experience a success.
